Snowberry Clearwing (Hemaris diffinis)
Species Spotlight
The Snowberry Clearwing (Hemaris diffinis) is always a welcome pollinator in my backyard. Looking a bit like a cross between a hummingbird and a bumble bee, the Snowberry Clearwing hovers over flowers like a hummingbird as it seeks nectar. Snowberry clearwing is named after its preferred host plant, the Snowberry (Symphoricarpos albus).
