European Goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis)

Species Spotlight

European Goldfinch: At the conservation area

There is an introduced population of European Goldfinches in the Great Lakes region - largely NE Illinois and SE Wisconsin that is likely the result of an importer dumping birds around 2006, possibly because of bird flu concerns. This bird could be an individual from that introduced population or it could have escaped from captivity.
