I was trying to focus on bird movement a bit of a distance from me in a wooded area, when this Black-throated Green warbler flew up from behind me and landed right in front of me. It was so close, I thought there was no chance my long lens would be able to lock a focus and I was on a boardwalk and could not back up any further. I got lucky and the bird must have been exactly at that 9-to-10-ft cutoff distance, because I was able to get the shot before it flew off.
